Rhythm & Dance
Rhythm and dance belong to each other in the classical jembe arrangement,
influencing and reinforcing each other. The rhythms often have a
counting cycle of 12 beats, the dance-steps follow the fourth, which
results in a so called ternary four-four-times.
But there are binary rhythmical structures (8, 16, 32), such counting
to 18 or quite unrelateable ones as well the focus lies on
the feeling, stuffing the music into schemes is trying to class
it with the European system.
